We Walked 'n Rolled around Lake Estero
On Saturday, September 24, from 11am to 2pm, we gathered for our 5th annual trip around Lake El Estero.
Biogen Idec once again supplied major support for this event.
The Holub family, Jim Kern of Montery Peninsula Orthotic and Prosthetic Services, and Language Matters Santa Cruz—along with those persons who donated and sponsored Walk 'n Roll participants—also helped us provide a good time for all!
Here's the flyer describing the event.
A doctor with MS shared his experiences
Dr. William Shaffer has MS; in fact, he had MS for years before he was willing to acknowledge it.
He's now telling other persons with MS about his experiences, and on July 23, we were fortunate to have him with us.
You can read more about his talk in Amy Heckel's writeup in our Autumn newsletter, but just to tell you one very important issue that he addressed: exercise.
He described the heating-up that MSers experience with exercise (known as Uthoff's Phenomenon), and emphasized that it is a normal occurrence that will pass when exercise is complete.
His point was that MSers should NOT let this interfere with exercise, which is so very important to maintaining good bodily function.
