HouseCalls Case Management

Our Case Managers visit clients in their homes to assess their biological, psychological, and social needs. From that needs assessment, the Case Manager develops a comprehensive care plan that addresses the needs of the client, their family, and caregivers.

Our staff guides and assists our clients through teaching, through encouraging approaches to self-management, and by offering follow-up and support as the need arises.

The HouseCalls program also includes ongoing educational events, advocacy, social opportunities, water aerobics and four monthly support groups.

Support Groups

MSQLP offers five support groups in our local area. Each group, with the exception of the caregivers' support group, is open to anyone with MS and we encourage family members and caregivers to attend.

We've just added a Supportive Therapy Group that will be facilitated by Andrea Dowdall, MSW. These 8-week sessions will cover processing issues related to living with MS. This group started in November 2009; sessions are held at the MSQLP office in Monterey. Please e-mail or call our office (831.333.9091) to register or to get more information.

Each support group is peer-led, and there is no fee. Each offers a safe, confidential, and constructive place to talk with others who share the commonality of living with MS.

  • listen to and encourage one another
  • share the challenges and victories of living with MS
  • learn new coping skills
  • share ideas and resources
  • plan and bring into being social activities, outings, and educational events

You are invited to come and make new friends and discover what others are doing to improve the quality of their lives.

Water Aerobics Program

MSQLP sponsors a free weekly water aerobics program in the pool at the Monterey Sports Center. A trainer, in the water, directs clients in an aerobic program to stimulate use of their arms and legs, and to work on their balance.

  • Our weekly water aerobic class Wednesdays at the Monterey Sports Center has had a time change: Starting January 2010 - June 2, 2010, class will still be on Wednesdays, but from 11 AM until 12 noon. From June 9 until June 30, it will be held on Wednesdays, 12 noon to 1 PM. Thanks, and don't forget that you can join this class at any time. It is free to all MSers and their caregivers.
